Reinforcing 2s and 4s Division Facts

3.OA.4-7

Differentiation Activity

Students place three counters on their own game board.  They draw 2s or 4s division fact cards and solve the equation.  If they have the matching quotient covered, they can remove the counter.  The first to remove all three counters is the winner.

Fives and Tens Division Facts Game

Differentiation Activity

Partners each get a game board to place 3 counters on. They take turns turning a card and solving the division fact.  If they have a counter on the quotient, they can remove that counter.  The card gets mixed back in.  The student who removes all three counters first is the winner!

Student can use the fives multiplication and division flash cards to play mix-and-match games.

Students can also use the centimeter grid paper to shade an array using a fives multiplication fact and write the fact family for that fact.

Students can use the tens multiplication and division facts to play mix-and-match games.

Students use the centimeter grid paper to shade an array.  They can then trade arrays and write the corresponding fact family using multiplication and division.  Students will check their partner's work.

I put the grid paper in a sheet protector, so it can be reused and written on.

Students will use a division expression from the Box of Facts (or any division flash card) to come up with a story that matches. If this is done in partners, the second student can draw out the story to match.

Students each draw 4 cards to make a 4-digit number.  They fill in the blanks of the first round.  The player that makes the greatest number gets a point.  They do the same for rounds 2 and 3.  The student with the most points at the end is the winner.  The game board can be placed in a sheet protector for multiple uses.

Comparing 4-Digit Numbers

Differentiation Activity

Spread the place-value ones cards from The Number Case or playing cards A-9 face down on a table.  Each student selects four cards.  They both use the cards to create the greatest possible four-digit number they can.  Repeat as time allows.  Have students record the greatest and least four-digit number they made an the four-digit number that is closest to 5,000.

Have the students cut the support page into two game boards.  In turn, students draw a card.  The number drawn is added or subtracted from the start number for that round.  The students with the highest total at the end of each round earns a point.  The student with the most points after three rounds wins the game.
